History

The Rice Global E&C Forum was founded by Dr. Durrani, of the Department of Engineering, and Ryuza “Ricky” Nagaoka, then a graduate of Rice University. They saw a need for a neutral forum where colleagues could come together to discuss advancements in and issues facing their industry. Since its inception, the Forum’s mission has been to grow professional development, establish lasting industry relationships, and create a talent pipeline through academic endeavors.

A Steering Committee, chosen by construction industry leaders of the time, lead the Forum through December of 2008. Determining that a stronger government model was needed, the Forum created a set of by-laws and a new governing structure - including a Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and membership volunteers - that guides the Forum to this day.

The Forum has grown to include 14 Contractor Members and 23 Associate Members from the major domestic and international contracting community. Honoring their commitment to growth and collaboration, the Forum hosts a monthly Roundtable luncheon and an Annual Forum event to bring together members and colleagues.
